Martyn's Law at FAAC UK

We recently had the privilege of hosting a dedicated customer event focused on Martyn's Law at FAAC UK in Basingstoke, bringing together industry professionals to explore the impact of the proposed legislation and what it means in practice for organisations across the UK. The event featured a powerful and inspiring talk from Figen Murray OBE, alongside Nathan Emmerich of SW-One. Together, they delivered a thought-provoking session that combined personal insight, legislative clarity and practical guidance.

A Personal Campaign with National Impact

Figen Murray shared the deeply personal journey behind her campaign for Martyn’s Law, established in memory of her son Martyn Hett, who was killed in the Manchester Arena attack in 2017. Her message was clear and compelling: security compliance is not simply a regulatory requirement - it is a moral responsibility. Preparedness saves lives and Figen's story served as a powerful reminder that effective security planning is about protecting people, communities and the spaces where we live, work and gather.

Understanding the Practical Implications

Nathan Emmerich provided valuable insight into what Martyn’s Law means for organisations and the practical steps businesses can take as they move towards compliance. The session explored how legislation can be translated into actionable measures, helping organisations strengthen their preparedness while embedding a culture of responsibility.

A key theme throughout the event was that Martyn’s Law is about more than compliance, it is about culture. Ensuring preparedness becomes second nature across our industry will be essential as the legislation evolves.

Supporting Customers Through Change

At FAAC UK, we remain committed to supporting our customers as they navigate these changes. By sharing knowledge, offering guidance and providing clarity around evolving security standards, we aim to ensure organisations feel informed, prepared and confident in their next steps.

One week on from the event, we were proud to share a short video showreel capturing key moments from the day. Our customers are welcome to contact marketing.uk@faactechnologies.com for additional resources and information from the event, including the contents of Figen and Nathan's presentations.
