FAAC AUTOMATED GATE OPERATOR STILL GOING STRONG

FAAC automation system demonstrates durability at Leisure Centre

One year on and the FAAC 844 sliding gate operator that controls vehicle
access at the Waendel Leisure Centre in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
is still operating perfectly with only minimal maintenance.

FAAC approved installers, AGD Systems was commissioned by Gleeson
Building on behalf of Wellingborough Borough Council to provide a secure
sliding vehicle gate which would permit entry to coaches and service vehicles
only. The specification required gates with a vertical rail design that were
secure, very safe and easy to operate. Reliability was also very important as
the gates would be in constant use during the leisure centre opening hours.

David Swinn, Sales Consultant at AGD Systems, says: “Our key belief at AGD
is to do it once and do it right. This is why we use FAAC automation systems
because they are not only technically excellent, but are exceptionally reliable
and require little maintenance.”

John Charlesworth, Wellingborough Contract Technical Manager for Waendel
Leisure Centre, agrees: “The leisure centre has a separate entrance for larger
vehicles and we needed a way to regulate this access. FAAC’s sliding gate
operator provided the ideal solution and, a year on, is still working efficiently.”

Ideal for both commercial and industrial gates, the 844 operator is extremely
durable due to its oil-bath lubrication system which reduces the wear of the
mechanical components and ensures smooth running of the gate.

Other benefits of the FAAC 844 are its exceptional safety features, including a
special twin-disk, anti-crushing clutch which enables thrust adjustment from 0
to 110 daN. The non-reversing gearmotor obviates the need for electric locks
and, in the event of power failure, the key-operated release device makes it
possible to open and close the gate manually.

With more than 40 years experience, FAAC is a world leader in access control
automation. The company has manufacturing and development facilities in
Italy and Ireland and distributes its products in more than 90 countries. FAAC
(UK), based in Basingstoke, is the market leader in residential and
commercial markets which it serves through a national network of 800
approved installers, all trained to FAAC’s high standards.
