A100 racing installation

FAAC (UK) IN POLE POSITION

A100 sliding door operator is favourite at race circuit

UK Karting team, Mick Barrett Racing (MBR) has become the talk of the
paddock due to their newly installed automatic sliding door which controls
entry to their corporate marquee. The slim line FAAC A100 sliding door
operator was installed to automate the previously manually operated doors
and has proved a huge success.

Specialists in the leisure industry, International Leisure Supplies and Services
(ILSS) were asked by MBR to automate a prototype door assembly for their
corporate marquee, containing their workshop and hospitality area. A system
was required that would allow access to the MBR staff, drivers and sponsors,
whilst preventing entry from the general public.

Steve Tooley, managing director of ILSS explains why FAAC were chosen for
the job: “MBR travel all over the country so the doors have to be dismantled
fairly frequently. We therefore needed to ensure we used an automation
system that was reliable and required little maintenance. The A100 was the
ideal choice because it is supplied fully assembled, making it easy to install
and it is also extremely compact.”

The A100 is one of the smallest automatic door operators currently available,
measuring just 100mm in height with a depth of 135mm, making it ideal for
installations where space is severely restricted. Suitable for single leaf doors
of up to 110 kg or two leaves with a combined weight of 140 kg, the A100 is
designed for continuous operation, meeting demand for a compact automatic
operator for doors in areas of high traffic.

Managing director of MBR, Mick Barrett is delighted with the installation,
saying: “The new automated door has significantly improved the safety and
security of the marquee area, whilst still allowing authorised persons the
freedom to enter and leave with ease. Each person is issued a numbered key
fob which is used to operate the door.”

With more than 40 year’s experience, FAAC is a world leader in gate and door
automation. The company has manufacturing and development facilities in
Italy and Ireland and distributes its products in more than 90 countries. Within
the UK, FAAC (UK) based in Basingstoke is the market leader in residential
