FAAC’s CITY BOLLARDS SECURE SOUTH EAST LONDON INDUSTRIAL
SITE
Installation prevents unauthorised night time access
Unauthorised access by travellers, particularly at night,
has been an increasing problem for Cluttons LLP, the
managing agents for the site at the Lombard Industrial
Trading Estate in Charlton, SE London. While security was
not an issue during the day, a robust solution was required
to secure the site during the hours of darkness. Other
security options were considered, but for site suitability
and practicality the decision was taken to install City
Bollards from FAAC (UK).
Four H600 fully automatic City Bollards have been selected
and specified by services consultant Peter Hawkins of
NewmarkGMS and installed by electrical engineers and
building contractors GD Smy Ltd, an approved installer for
FAAC (UK) Ltd. Offering time clock control, the bollards
are set to automatically raise and lower at pre-arranged
times. When the Bollards are in the raised/secure
position, entry can be gained either by communicating with
the units via a TVTEL audio entry system using GSM
technology or entering a secure pin code into the unit
which is mounted adjacent to the entrance. To exit,
drivers enter a different secure pin code into a second
vandal-resistant FAAC Resist backlit keypad mounted
adjacent to the exit. A fully integrated traffic light and
loop safety system ensures safe traffic flow at all times.
FAAC City Bollards are available in hydraulic fully
automatic versions and gas activation semi-automatic.
Comprising a metal cylinder with a piston mechanism, each
unit is housed inside a compartment set into the road
surface. Allowing unrestricted pedestrian access, bollard
systems can be fully customised to meet specific security
issues and to optimise the number of staff required to
oversee access arrangements.
