The Brief:
FAAC installer AGD Systems was recently approached by a domestic client from Northampton, looking to secure their driveway from the growing threat of residential vehicle theft in the UK.
The Challenge:
This forward-thinking homeowner required a smart, robust solution that would provide a strong physical deterrent while maintaining convenient driveway access for residents and visitors alike. Given the residential setting, the proposed solution also needed to be subtle and visually unobtrusive - preserving the home’s welcoming exterior while delivering the all-important peace of mind that residents’ vehicles would remain safe from theft when not in use.
The Solution:
To meet this challenge and satisfy all of the client’s requirements, the AGD team specified twin FAAC J200 HA automatic bollards for installation. Intuitively operated via remote control, the system allows the homeowner to raise or lower both automatic traffic bollards at the touch of a button, when arriving or departing. When fully retracted, the bollards sit flush with the driveway surface, keeping the entrance clear and completely unobstructed for deliveries. When raised, their solid steel construction and deep foundation pits create a formidable physical barrier, capable of withstanding the impact forces typically associated with vehicle theft attempts.
The Installation:
As this was a retrofit traffic bollard installation on an existing domestic driveway, AGD’s skilled engineers carefully excavated each bollard housing and installed all ducting and power cabling below ground to ensure a neat, discreet and weather-resistant finish. The system was configured so both bollards operate together from a single command, with built-in safety features including obstacle detection, emergency stop and manual override for reliable, secure operation – A job well done, and another satisfied AGD customer.
