FAAC anti-ram bollards provide a comprehensive range of solutions (including automatic, semi-automatic, and fixed models) capable of serving as highly effective vehicle barriers and a strong ram-deterrent. Bike Totaal van Hulst, a Dutch retailer specialising in premium electric bicycles, recently sought to safeguard its storefront against overnight break-ins. FAAC Netherlands implemented a solution consisting of an automatic sliding door complemented by three automatic bollards positioned in front of the shop’s doors and windows. A semi-automatic smart bollard at the entrance descends during the daytime to allow for customer access, whilst retaining the ability to be fixed in place at night when the store is closed, to offer robust protection against overnight ram-raid attacks.

Residential Bollards for Driveways
FAAC bollards also make effective residential vehicle barriers, raising to block private driveways securely (when out of use), preventing car theft and unauthorised access. These slimline, residential security systems enhance driveway security whilst integrating seamlessly into the aesthetic environment. Homeowners can also operate their smart bollards via remote control, keypad, or RFID tag. Timers can also be set to automate smart bollard movement, for example, raising barriers after working hours (for overnight perimeter protection) and lowering them prior to staff arrival in the morning.

At the highest security tier, FAAC offers crash-tested bollards capable of halting vehicles used as weapons. Our JS series anti-terror bollards are engineered to stop vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tonnes travelling at speeds of up to 80 km/h, providing critical hostile vehicle mitigation for high-risk sites. These high security solutions are deployed worldwide at embassies, defence facilities, transport hubs, and major event venues where failure is not an option.
